Hiya folks thanks for joining us in the virtual RGM lounge today, grab a brew and take a seat.
What made you decide that music is a thing for you?
It was just natural, melodies just come to me all the time from nowhere, although I know it must be from somewhere! And when they come I sing them over and over in my head, it got me into trouble at school, detentions etc.
What was the first song you heard that steered you into a music path?
Truthfully I don’t remember, I’m not even sure there was one, I have to put my hands up, this isn’t the tell a lie section.
Tell us Two truths and a lie about you.
I cannot sight read music to save my life, I mean not even the most basic tunes!
I was chased by a major record company when I was in my late teens but never got back to them.
I’m kind of scared by creepy crawlies, especially spiders, I wouldn’t want one of those crawling on me!
The video for Never Gonna Let You Go is out now, what can you tell us about it?
It’s set in Regency era (1820s) in Great Britain but juxtaposed with the modern. It doesn’t try to tell one story but has many possibilities based on several time and space portals. It’s for the viewer to interpret. Filming took place at prestigious historic locations in London and a forest famous for it’s mystical properties!
What was the biggest learning curve in writing the new tunes?
Not so much a problem with the actual melodies but a huge learning curve in terms of choosing, layering and audio processing all the instruments and vocals. So it wasn’t always about picking the best performance, I wanted the sound to be a blend of analogue and digital, to be raw and organic, to vary throughout the track so there would always be something unexpected, and yet end up with a super clean mix. This took many studio sessions and months of audio processing to achieve .
Is there anything else you would like to share with the world?
Absolutely, take a look for yourselves, it’s very different!
